Pocket: The Recorder You Can Buy Now

Pocket describes itself as "a small AI device that turns everything you say and hear into clear notes, action items, and search." It weighs 52 g and snaps onto the back of a phone with MagSafe, or attaches with an included adhesive mount. You press the side button to record and press again to stop. It has two microphones for the room and a contact microphone that picks up phone calls, 64GB of onboard storage, and up to four days of active use on a charge. The apps run on iPhone, Android, the web, Mac and Windows.

It costs $129, down from a listed $199. A free tier includes unlimited transcription at standard accuracy, and Pro is $19.99 a month or $239.88 a year.

Button: Press to Talk to AI

Button, from founders Chris Nolet and Ryan Burgoyne, who met at Apple working on Vision Pro, is a small computer that runs voice apps and answers in about half a second. It connects to your iPhone over Bluetooth, and Button says "it can only hear you when you press it." It is $179 on preorder, down from a regular price of $229, with three months of Button AI Pro included and then $7.99 a month, or you can bring your own AI API key. First U.S. shipments are planned for 15 December 2026, and the store currently shows the preorder as sold out. Android support is promised later. Read more in What Is Button Computer?

antimattr: The Ring and Earbuds to Watch

antimattr is a two-person San Francisco startup in YC's Fall 2026 batch. Y Combinator lists it as building "a voice-first hardware interface for human-agent interaction that includes a ring and a pair of earphones." The ring can record and summarize conversations, capture thoughts or control AI agents, and the earbuds use voice isolation to block background noise. Its reservation page offers the earbuds, the ring or both, with a refundable deposit that is the same for every option, and says Project Mnemosyne "unveils Q4-2026." It has not published a price, specs or how capture starts.

Three Different Jobs

Pocket is for notes. It records meetings and calls you choose to capture and turns them into summaries and action items.

Button is for asking. You press it, speak, and a voice app answers or acts.

antimattr is for both, eventually. Its ring aims to capture thoughts and conversations and control agents, but it is a reservation, not a product, today.

Which Should You Choose?

Choose Pocket if you want meeting and call notes this week, on any phone, with a free tier to start.

Choose Button if you want a simple voice assistant for your iPhone, with low running costs or your own API key, and can wait until mid-December.

Reserve antimattr if you want a voice ring and earbuds and are happy to wait for the Q4 2026 unveiling to learn the price. The deposit is refundable.

Where Legend Fits

All three start when you decide to capture or ask. Legend One is built for the conversations you would not think to record. It is a voice-first AI memory pendant made for people with ADHD, worn at chest height and always on with no button to press, with a Halo light when it is active. It is not a medical device and does not treat ADHD. Legend turns your conversations into text, with no audio to play back and none kept in your account, and gives you daily summaries and auto-generated to-dos in the Legend App. Legend still captures audio to create the transcript, so recording and consent laws may apply where you live. It is $499 USD including the first year of membership, with free worldwide shipping. Orders ship within 30 days, then arrive in about 14 business days. See how it works.

The Takeaway

Three Y Combinator voice startups, three stages. Pocket is a $129 recorder on sale now for notes from meetings and calls. Button is a $179 press-to-talk assistant for iPhone, shipping from 15 December. antimattr is a ring and earbuds you can only reserve until its Q4 2026 unveiling. Pick by the job you need done, and by how long you are willing to wait.
