Of the two, only the Rabbit r1 is still on sale. As of 31 October 2026, Rabbit sells the r1 for $199 with no subscription, running its new rabbit OS3 software. The Humane AI Pin is gone: HP bought Humane's assets for $116 million in February 2025, and the Pin's service shut down on 28 February 2025. If you want one of these today, the r1 is the only option; if you want a wearable that remembers your day, neither was built for that.

What Is the Rabbit r1?
The r1 is a small handheld AI device with a screen and a camera. It is not a wearable: you carry it in a pocket and pick it up to talk to it. Rabbit's pitch is an assistant that can answer questions, translate, look at what is in front of you and record and summarize conversations.
As of 31 October 2026, Rabbit's r1 page lists it at $199, "powered by rabbit OS3", with "no subscription" and "unlimited recordings, transcripts & AI summaries". Rabbit's FAQ says OS3 is free and that "You pay the model provider you choose according to that provider's own API pricing", so you bring your own AI model key. Rabbit says the r1 ships in 3 business days with 30-day free returns.
What Was the Humane AI Pin?
The AI Pin was a screenless wearable that clipped to your clothes. You spoke to it, and it answered by voice or by projecting text onto your palm with a small laser. It also had a camera. The idea was to move attention away from screens and let the assistant fade into the background.
It did not last. In February 2025, HP bought Humane's assets for $116 million, Humane stopped selling the Pin, and its cloud service shut down on 28 February 2025, which left the devices unable to do their AI features. See What Happened to Humane? for the full story, and Humane AI Pin Alternatives in 2026 for what to buy instead.
Screen vs Screenless
The biggest design difference was the screen. The r1 kept one, so you could see answers and what the camera was looking at. The AI Pin dropped it and relied on voice and projection, betting that people wanted less to look at, not more.
Both were early attempts to answer the same questions: where should AI live, how much attention should it ask for, and how should it understand what is going on around you. The r1 answered with a pocket device you look at. The Pin answered with a wearable you talk to.
What Each Revealed
The Rabbit r1 showed that a cheap, dedicated AI gadget can find buyers, and that it survives by changing its software. The r1 now runs a third major version, rabbit OS3, and lets you choose the AI model behind it.
The Humane AI Pin showed the risk of hardware that depends entirely on one company's cloud. When the service ended, the Pin stopped being useful. Before buying any AI device, it is worth asking what happens if the company is sold or shuts down. We cover that in What Happens to Your Data When an AI Wearable Company Shuts Down?
Where Legend Fits
Neither device was built to remember your day for you. Legend One is a voice-first AI memory pendant made for people with ADHD, worn at chest height and on all day, with a Halo light when it is active. It is not a medical device and does not treat ADHD. Legend turns your conversations into text, with no audio to play back and none kept in your account, and gives you daily summaries and auto-generated to-dos in the Legend App. Legend still captures audio to create the transcript, so recording and consent laws may apply where you live. It is $499 USD including the first year of membership, with free worldwide shipping. Orders ship within 30 days, then arrive in about 14 business days. See how it works.
The Takeaway
The Rabbit r1 is still on sale at $199 with no subscription and new rabbit OS3 software. The Humane AI Pin was discontinued when HP bought Humane's assets in February 2025, and its service has ended. If you want one of the two today, it has to be the r1. For the wider category, see our guide to the best AI wearables in 2026, ranked by what you are actually trying to solve.
