Persona Band and Bee are both wrist-worn AI wearables, and TechCrunch compared them when Persona raised $10 million on 8 October 2026. They solve different problems. Bee ($49.99) is a memory device: it captures your conversations and turns them into summaries, to-dos and daily recaps. Persona Band ($179, ships December 2026) is the wrist button for an AI agent that orders food, books travel and answers email for you. If you want to remember what was said, look at Bee. If you want something that does tasks for you, Persona is the one, once it ships.

The Real Difference: Memory Device vs AI Agent

Bee is built to remember. You press the button, it captures the conversation, and the app gives you summaries and takeaways, suggested to-dos, patterns, and daily memories you can search or chat with. Nothing happens in the world unless you act on it.

Persona is built to act. According to TechCrunch, the agent orders food or rides, takes notes, books travel, and answers questions and emails, and it learns your preferences. Purchases need your approval, the agent cannot see your card details, and payment goes through providers such as Stripe Link. The Band is how you call it up without taking out your phone.

So the question is not which one is better. It is whether your problem is forgetting what people said, or not having time to do the errands that come out of it.

Price and What You Pay Later

Bee is the cheaper way in at $49.99, but it was sold out on its own site when we checked on 8 October 2026. Bee says a Premium monthly subscription is coming, with "Details will be forthcoming", so the running cost is unknown.

Persona Band is $179, down from $219, with two for $338 and three for $477. Persona has not published a subscription price either. TechCrunch reports that Persona will rely partly on ads: sponsored results can appear when the agent researches a purchase, though the company says the agent does not know which items are sponsored. The beta, which runs through iMessage, is free.

Neither device lets you work out a three-year cost yet. Bee has the lower entry price; Persona has the clearer funding behind it.

Capture and Privacy

Both start with a press rather than listening all day by default. Bee's button starts and stops capture, and Bee says it stops by itself after a period of silence that you set, from 5 minutes to 24 hours. Persona's own pages do not say how the Band is activated; TechCrunch reports a button or a wrist flick, and that the Band will not always listen or record.

On audio, Bee is the more specific of the two. Its product page says: "We never store audio recordings", with conversations "Processed in real-time" and "Immediately deleted after processing."

Persona describes envelope encryption for "Every message, document and recap", lists SOC 2 Type I certification and AES-256 encryption, and says "Gone means gone, on our servers too." TechCrunch adds that the AI model runs in Persona's cloud, not on the Band, and that data is encrypted in transit and at rest. What Persona does with the audio itself is not published.

Battery and Comfort

Bee lasts longer: up to 7 days against Persona's 3. Persona charges faster, fully in 30 minutes, and at 27 grams it is light. Both are water-resistant, and both can sit on the wrist; Bee can also come off the band and clip to a pocket or belt.

The wrist is a hard place for a microphone. It moves with your arm, ends up under sleeves and faces the table. That matters more for Bee, whose job is to capture whole conversations, than for Persona, whose job is to hear a short request.

Which Should You Buy?

Choose Bee if you want to remember conversations and get to-dos out of them, you are in the US, you use an iPhone, and you can find one in stock. At $49.99 it is the cheapest way to try the category.

Choose Persona Band if you want an assistant that books, orders and replies for you, you live in iMessage, and you are happy to pre-order for December and learn the running cost later.

Choose neither if you need something shipping today with published running costs. Our Bee alternatives guide covers what is in stock now.

Where Legend Fits

Legend One is a third option, closer to Bee than to Persona. It is a voice-first AI memory pendant made for people with ADHD, worn at chest height and always on with no button to press, which suits people who forget to start a device. Legend turns your conversations into text. No audio to play back, and none kept in your account. It costs more: $499 USD including the first year of membership, renewing at $499 a year. See how it compares on our comparison page.

The Takeaway

Bee and Persona Band look alike on the wrist and do different jobs. Bee remembers what was said; Persona acts on what you ask for. Bee is $49.99 and sold out at the moment; Persona is $179 and ships in December. Both still owe buyers a subscription price.
