Luxury fashion houses have been putting technology inside their products for years: Chanel made a watch necklace with built-in headphones, Louis Vuitton made a light-up speaker, earbuds and a smartwatch, and Gucci put its logo on an Oura health ring. Hermès dresses the Apple Watch, Gucci is making smart glasses with Google for 2027, and Prada has been reported to be working with Meta. Most of these were made with a specialist tech partner, cost several times more than the regular version, and were sold as much on design as on what they do.

Chanel Première Sound

Chanel took its Première watch and turned it into a piece of audio jewelry. The Première Sound hangs the watch on an 18k gold-coated woven steel chain worn as a long necklace, and wired earphones detach from it. Master & Dynamic says it made the earphones, which are marked with Chanel's double C. The campaign starred Lily-Rose Depp, and it went on sale in Chanel boutiques on 2 September 2024. It was a deliberate throwback to wired headphones, made into something you would wear even with nothing playing.

Louis Vuitton Horizon Light Up Speaker

Louis Vuitton's speaker, launched in July 2021 at $2,890, is shaped like the house's Toupie bag. Tom's Guide reported a steel and perforated leather body, a ring of LEDs that light up in time with the music, 360-degree sound, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with AirPlay, and up to 15 hours of battery. It is one of the clearest examples of a luxury house treating a gadget as a decorative object first.

Louis Vuitton Horizon Earphones

Louis Vuitton's first wireless earbuds were made with the New York audio company Master & Dynamic. Engadget reported in January 2019 that they were expected to cost $995 and were essentially a rebranded version of Master & Dynamic's MW07, with LV branding, four colorways and a different charging case.

Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up

Louis Vuitton has also made its own smartwatch, built on its Tambour watch case. The Tambour Horizon Light Up, reviewed by Stuff in March 2022 from £2,690, has a 1.2-inch always-on AMOLED screen ringed by 24 colored glyphs that glow when a notification arrives, water resistance to 30 meters and support for Android and iPhone.

Gucci x Oura Ring

In May 2022, Gucci and Oura released a special edition of Oura's Gen3 smart ring for $950, with a lifetime Oura membership included. It wrapped Oura's sleep, heart rate, temperature and activity tracking in a black band with Gucci's interlocking G and a braided torchon in 18k yellow gold. We tell the full story in The Gucci x Oura Ring.

Apple Watch Hermès

One of the best known partnerships on this list is Apple and Hermès. Apple Watch Hermès pairs Apple's watch with Hermès leather and textile bands and exclusive watch faces, and Apple currently sells it as Apple Watch Hermès Series 12. It shows the model most of these collaborations follow: the tech company makes the device, and the fashion house makes it something people want to wear.

Gucci Smart Glasses With Google

In April 2026, Kering's CEO said Gucci and Google are developing Gucci-branded smart glasses, due in 2027. They are expected to run on Google's Android XR platform and include cameras, microphones and speakers. The design has not been shown.

Prada and Meta

CNBC reported in June 2025 that Meta was working with Prada on AI smart glasses, as Meta expands its glasses beyond Ray-Ban. Neither company has confirmed a product or timeline.

Why Fashion Keeps Putting Tech Inside

A wearable only works if people want to wear it. Technology companies are good at sensors and software; fashion houses are good at making objects people put on every day and keep. That is why nearly every product here pairs a house with a specialist: Master & Dynamic for audio, Oura for health tracking, Apple for the watch, and Google and Meta for glasses.

The same idea is now shaping AI wearables. Devices that capture conversations or answer questions are increasingly being designed as jewelry, because a device that stays in a drawer cannot help. See Tiffany HardWear for the jewelry side of that story, and the best AI pendants in 2026 for the tech side.

Where Legend Fits

Legend One is built the same way: jewelry first, technology underneath, in Gold, Brushed Silver and Matte Black. It is a voice-first AI memory pendant made for people with ADHD, worn at chest height and on all day, with a Halo light when it is active. It is not a medical device and does not treat ADHD. Legend turns your conversations into text, with no audio to play back and none kept in your account, and gives you daily summaries and auto-generated to-dos in the Legend App. Legend still captures audio to create the transcript, so recording and consent laws may apply where you live. It is $499 USD including the first year of membership, with free worldwide shipping. Orders ship within 30 days, then arrive in about 14 business days. Legend is not affiliated with any of the brands above. See how it works.

The Takeaway

Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermès and Prada have all put technology inside fashion: headphones in a necklace, a speaker shaped like a handbag, earbuds, smartwatches, a health ring and smart glasses. Most were made with a tech partner and sold at a large premium. The ones that lasted, like Apple Watch Hermès, are the ones people wanted to wear every day.
